Court Reporting Firms Jobs

Many court reporters coming out of school are unaware that there are large differences in the type of work court reporting firms do. Court reporting agencies differ a great deal in the type of clients they perform court reporting services for and the type of court reporters and certified court reporters who work for them.

New court reporters usually have some idea of what type of career in court reporting they want to pursue. I have meet many new court reporters over the years, and the first thing I ask is what type of court reporting career they are looking for. For example, how flexible are the hours they have to work.

A lot of court reporters pursue a career in freelance court reporting because they like the flexibility of being a court reporter which would allow them time to do other things. For example, stay home with their children on school holidays. I have meet court reporters who are pursuing an acting career, and they have the flexibility to go for casting calls. Harvey Keitel is perhaps the most famous who did court reporting while pursuing his acting career.

Court reporting is a wonderful career choice for many reasons, and good court reporters will always find work, even in a poor economy such as we are now experiencing.
