Court Reporting Firms
As a court reporter and owner of a court reporting firm, I have given much thought on what are the most important things a court reporter and owner of a court reporting agency can do to retain happy clients. One of the basic things that attorneys want is court reporters who arrive on time. What does that really mean?
It means the court reporter is set up and ready to go before the attorney starts the deposition. The amount of clients that have been lost because of lateness is tremendous. And as a working court reporter, the feeling you get when you walk into a room full of attorneys who have been waiting for you is not pleasant. I rather be real early, sit and have a cup of coffee, read the newspaper or a transcript, than walk in late. Of course, commuting is difficult and we are all sometimes late. But there are just too many court reporters who think it is okay for them to time it perfectly to get there 5 minutes early and end up starting late and having everybody waiting for them.
Lateness to many people, including myself, equates to rudeness and a total lack of consideration for other people’s time. Being considerate other people’s time is something that works well both in the business and personal parts of all our lives.
