Court Reporting Jobs
In the court reporting world as well as the world we live in, the main focus has been the loss of jobs and how to get new jobs through obtaining new skills, how to write resumes, how to interview, how to network, etc, etc.
In looking at the responses to my court reporting blog, I get many more responses regarding jobs than court reporting or court reporters.
In thinking about the job situation which is of concern to me because of the affects I know it has on so many people, I began to give some thought to those of us fortunate to have jobs and how many of us take them for granted and are just on auto pilot in their work performance.
I have become concerned now with how to keep your job. I really have not seen too much written on this subject. If you went that extra mile, perhaps you would not be the one who lost the job. I think the importance of being a special employee with a strong work ethic, going that extra inch, has not gotten the proper attention which it deserves. From my own personal experience with most of my employees, they think they are doing their best. But are they really? Do they put in the same effort as the owners or do they think they are overworked and underpaid? An owner values his company because he understands the impact its success or failure has on their lives.
How many employees really understand the value of their jobs and how its loss would affect their lives? Every day I am beginning to think fewer and fewer. Times have changed drastically but I don’t think the general employee work ethic has and I think there is much to write in that area.
